Communist Pleasures comprises of the bits and pieces that didn’t fit onto Nes' debut LP 'The Sounds of Heart Failure'.

In some ways, the EP represents Nes' musical manifesto more accurately than their carefully compiled album. The numerous dead ends and cul-de-sacs hidden within the track listing reveal isolated loops, unused samples, and live versions of songs included on 'Heart Failure'. It gives an insight into the workings of a group that eschewed conventional songwriting practices in favour of the eclectic and experimental. Having said that, "Communist Pleasures' also plays host to 'And Some Leaves', the band's most straightforward composition to date.

An interesting adjunct to the band's repertoire.
