Graeme McClure had been a musical contemporary of Nes Advantage since before the days of the wtss music collective. His band Syndrome had played numerous school shows with Pond, and he would later join Ian Courtney in their acoustic project The Bird Report, a sequel to For The Birds.
It was therefore logical that when Graeme came to record a solo song, he chose Colerabbey Studios.
Things took a turn for the strange at that point, with Nes appointing themselves as producers for this heartfelt, straight ahead acoustic piece. The results were a harrowing journey into noise and bleakness, with Nes appropriating the kitchen sink (and other household items) and throwing it squarely at the song. Although the original arrangement can be heard on track 3 of this EP, it is the 12" mix presented here that encapsulates the bizarre fusion of Graeme's earnest delivery and Ryan and Andrew's thirst for the unlistenable.
Also worthy of note here is the Visten Cogel Me-Rix, in which the core rhythm instruments were muted, leaving the haunting overdubs swirling around the isolated vocal track. This created a whole new arrangement, and one that was deemed so successful it earned itself inclusion on Nes' debut album 'The Sounds Of Heart Failure'. It also marked the first time Andrew implemented his 'extraction' method of production, a technique that would be further explored in his Dream Circuit radio programme.
